Lab Report

Lab Report Help

Lab Report AI Audit looks at your Shopify store the way a shopper does, on a mobile and a desktop screen size, and gives you a short report of the issues most likely to get in the way of buying, each with a marked screenshot and a clear fix.

Getting started

  1. Install Lab Report from the Shopify App Store.
  2. Open the app in your Shopify admin and click Run audit. On Pro and Growth, choose which pages to check (the recommended ones are ticked), then click Start audit.
  3. By default the audit checks your homepage, a collection, up to three products and your cart. It takes a few minutes. If other stores are being audited at the same time, yours waits in line and starts automatically, and the app shows your place in line.
  4. Click View report to see your issues, ranked with the most important first.

My store has a password page

Lab Report needs to get past your password page to see your store. When you run an audit, the app asks for your storefront visitor password. This is the password shoppers type on your password page, which you set in Shopify admin under Online Store, then Preferences. It is never your Shopify admin login. The password is stored encrypted and used only to open your password page during audits. You can replace or remove it in the app at any time.

Plans

Billing is handled by Shopify. You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel anytime on the Plans page in the app.

Understanding your report

Rechecking a page

After you fix an issue, open it in your report and click Recheck this page. Lab Report checks only that page again, in about a minute. If the issue is clearly gone, it is marked Confirmed fixed with the date. If it is still there, it stays open. If we can't tell for sure, we show what we found and you can mark it fixed yourself. Rechecks don't use your full audits.

Common questions

Will the audit change my store?
No. Lab Report only reads your store. To see a real cart, it adds one product to a cart in its own browser session, but it never checks out or buys anything.

Which pages can I add?
On Growth you can add any page of your own store, on your myshopify address or your connected domains, including pages made with page builders. Lab Report can only audit the store that installed it, so other websites and checkout or account pages can't be added.

Will the audit affect my analytics?
While the audit runs, we block analytics and ad tracking events where possible, so our visits stay out of your data. Shopify's own analytics may still count the audit as visits and an add to cart.

Why did my audit fail?
Usually because the store blocked automated visits, the password page could not be opened, or the store has no published products yet. The app shows a message explaining what happened. If it keeps failing, contact us.

How is my data handled?
Screenshots and page data are processed by an AI service to write your report. We keep your last 10 audits for up to 90 days. When you uninstall, your audits and saved password are deleted right away, and the rest of your store's information follows within a few days. Read the full privacy policy.
